Pathways to Professionalism part II (Back)

Published by Renee on Dec 14, 2009

This is part II of a 3 part  series on "Pathways to Professionalism." Last month we covered "Respect for the Public". This month, the subject is "Respect for Property".

When taking clients/customers into a home, make sure you can keep track of everyone. No one should be allowed to wander through a property especially if it's occupied.

No unlicensed person should be given access to listed property without the listing agent. Giving out combo codes, etc. is bad practice and may even be unlawful.

You should not be entering a listed property without the knowledge of the listing agent or the listing office. This goes for vacant property too unless permission has been given in advance.

Always remember to leave the property as you found it unless other instruction is given. If you suspect vandalism or other problems, contact the listing agent or office immediately. You should also leave the property as soon as you see such a problem.

No one should smoke, bring food or drink, leave trash, use the bathroom or bring pets to showings.

Use the sidewalks especially when the weather is bad. Take off shoes and boots inside the property when appropriate.

These are but a few suggestions for respecting your clients' property agents should be aware of during showings.

Next month we'll cover "Respect for Peers".
